Joule for SAP CX: Which Assistants You Can Use, Product by Product
Founder & CEO, SAP CX Architect, Spadoom AG
At Sapphire 2026 SAP named ten Joule assistants for customer experience and planned them for general availability in Q3 2026. Six months later, the picture is mixed: two assistants are in phased GA, one marketing feature is generally available, and much of the rest is planned for 2027. This post goes through it product by product, with the status as of 30 October 2026.
TL;DR: For Sales Cloud V2 and Service Cloud V2, the Deal Qualification and Case Management Assistants are in phased GA, confirmed in SAP’s Q3 2026 release highlights. Engagement Cloud has a generally available AI content composer. Commerce Cloud’s cloud ERP edition is available; new commerce and quoting assistants are planned for Q1 2027. We found no Joule assistant for SAP CPQ. Every assistant depends on clean data in its process.

What did SAP announce for CX at Sapphire 2026?
SAP’s Sapphire CX article of May 2026 named ten Joule Assistants: Content and Campaign for marketing, Merchandising, Shopping and Order Management for commerce, Sales, Deal Qualification and Deal Closing for sales, and Case Management and Service Management for service. It stated that the CX innovations were “planned for general availability in Q3 2026”.
Two later sources show what happened since:
- SAP’s Q3 2026 release highlights of 26 October say that “the general availability for Case Management Assistant is now underway in a phased approach”, and the same for the Deal Qualification Assistant.
- After SAP Connect in October, an Info-Tech note of 15 October 2026 lists additional capabilities for the Content, Campaign and Shopping Assistants and new assistants such as Quoting for Q1 2027, and Commerce Cloud’s cloud ERP edition as available now.
Nota bene: “phased” means SAP opens availability progressively. Check with SAP whether it is activated for your tenant before you plan with it.
Sales Cloud V2: Deal Qualification first
The Deal Qualification Assistant is the first sales assistant in phased GA. According to SAP’s Q3 2026 highlights, it works with a Lead Enrichment Agent, a Lead Qualification Agent, a Lead Routing Agent, a Lead Conversion Agent and a Deal Qualification Orchestration Agent. For the Sales Assistant and the Deal Closing Assistant we could not confirm general availability.
Concretely, this assistant is only as good as your qualification criteria. If your team cannot say in one sentence when a lead becomes an opportunity, the agent can’t either. Write the criteria down, agree them with sales management, and clean up lead sources before you switch it on.
SAP also announced field sales capabilities for retail execution in consumer goods companies. For what Joule does in Sales Cloud V2 today, our hands-on Joule guide is the practical starting point.
Service Cloud V2: Case Management, plus Parloa
The Case Management Assistant is in phased GA with four agents released in Q3 2026: Case Preparation, Case Processing, Case Action Recommendation and Case Management Orchestration (SAP Q3 2026). For the Service Management Assistant we could not confirm general availability.
Two partnerships matter for service. SAP is embedding Parloa’s voice and digital self-service agents in Service Cloud, and it is expanding its partnership with Amazon for AI-driven service across voice and digital channels (SAP CX article). At TechEd SAP added a solution extension with Parloa.
What decides the result in our service projects is not the agent but the case history: consistent categories, maintained knowledge articles, clear ownership. Without them, a recommendation agent recommends the wrong action faster. If you run the Digital Service Agent today, our post on the Digital Service Agent shows how to start with the three questions your service desk hears most.
Commerce Cloud: the cloud ERP edition is the real news
For mid-market commerce, the most concrete Sapphire item was not an assistant. SAP introduced SAP Commerce Cloud, cloud ERP edition, for mid-market companies on SAP Cloud ERP, together with SAP Unified Payment powered by Adyen, and announced that it adopts the Universal Commerce Protocol. According to the Info-Tech note, the cloud ERP edition is available now.
For the Merchandising, Shopping and Order Management Assistants we could not confirm general availability as of 30 October. Additional Shopping capabilities and new agents in the Order Management Assistant are planned for Q1 2027. A Catalog Optimization Agent is already available for Commerce Cloud since Q1 2026, and it is a good first agent: the result is visible in the catalogue and easy to check. Our Commerce Cloud update covers the edition in more detail.
Engagement Cloud, CPQ and Field Service Management
These three were not part of SAP’s Sapphire CX article. Their status, as far as SAP has documented it:
| Product | Status as of 30 October 2026 | Source |
|---|---|---|
| SAP Engagement Cloud | AI content composer generally available; Content and Campaign Assistants announced, additional capabilities planned for Q1 2027 | SAP Q3 2026, Info-Tech |
| SAP CPQ | No Joule agent in SAP’s sources; a Quoting Assistant is planned for Q1 2027, without a statement on SAP CPQ | Info-Tech |
| SAP Field Service Management | Joule for planning and scheduling activities and for questions on activity summaries already generated in the mobile app, documented in SAP Help, web client only | SAP Help |
For Engagement Cloud, generated content still needs an approver and a written tone of voice. For FSM, Joule pays off where dispatchers already plan in FSM every day; users need to be in the IAS group FSA_JOULE and sign in via SSO.
What every CX assistant needs first
Some prerequisites are common to all products. Joule must be onboarded on your tenant via SAP Business AI Platform (BAIP, formerly BTP), and Joule and every connected product must use the same SAP Cloud Identity Services tenant (SAP Help: integrating Joule). Agents run on AI units, so the usage has a price. On top of that, activation differs per product: for Sales and Service Cloud V2, SAP’s setup guide describes its own activation steps, so check eligibility with SAP for your product and tenant.
Then comes the data. A short checklist from our projects:
- Sales: qualification criteria in writing, lead sources maintained consistently, meetings and emails recorded in the CRM.
- Service: consistently categorised case history, current and approved knowledge articles.
- Commerce: complete product attributes and an agreed taxonomy, order status reported reliably from the ERP.
- Marketing: consented customer profiles and segments, an approver for generated content.
- Identity: one Cloud Identity Services tenant for Joule and all connected products.
This is the unglamorous part. It is also the part that decides whether an assistant saves time or creates work.
Spadoom’s view
We would start with one of the two assistants in phased GA, on a process with clean data and a measurable result: lead qualification time in sales, or handling time for one case category in service. One process, a few pilot users, real numbers. If the 2027 assistants arrive as planned, they will build on the same data, so the work you do now is not wasted.
What we would not do: wait for the full set. Most of the effort sits in the data and the process, not in switching on the assistant.

FAQ
Which SAP CX Joule assistants are available?
As of 30 October 2026, SAP’s Q3 2026 release highlights say general availability is underway in a phased approach for the Case Management Assistant (Service Cloud) and the Deal Qualification Assistant (Sales Cloud). Engagement Cloud’s AI content composer is generally available. For most other CX assistants announced at Sapphire 2026 we could not confirm general availability; enhancements for several are planned for Q1 2027.
Is there a Joule assistant for SAP CPQ?
We could not find one as of 30 October 2026. A Quoting Assistant is planned for Q1 2027, but the announcement does not say whether it works with SAP CPQ. We found no Joule agent for SAP CPQ in SAP’s sources.
What do I need before I switch on a CX Joule assistant?
Common to all products: Joule must be onboarded on your tenant via SAP Business AI Platform, and Joule and the connected product must use the same SAP Cloud Identity Services tenant. Activation steps differ per product, so check its setup guide. Agents consume AI units. And the data the assistant works on, such as qualification criteria, case categories or knowledge articles, has to be in order first.
Does Joule work in SAP Field Service Management?
Yes, for selected tasks. SAP Help documents Joule capabilities in SAP Field Service Management for planning and scheduling activities and for answering questions using activity summaries already generated in the mobile app, in the web client. Users need to be in the IAS group FSA_JOULE and sign in via SSO.
